دار زرياب

From Córdoba to Granada: Ziryab’s living legacy

Abu l‑Hasan Ali ibn Nafi, known as Ziryab —the “Blackbird”—, arrived in Umayyad Córdoba in 822. A musician, singer, poet and teacher, he became associated with a new refinement in the music, dining, dress and hospitality of al‑Andalus.

Productions

Two eras, one cultural thread

Ziryab did not live in Nasrid Granada: his world was ninth-century Córdoba. The Nasrid Kingdom of Granada emerged in the thirteenth century and made the city the last great state of al‑Andalus until 1492. Dar Ziryab connects both chapters carefully: Andalusian cultural memory and the historic Granada still visible in Albaicín.

Calderería Nueva, now known as Tea-House Street, sustains an urban tradition linked to tea, craft and Arab culture. Here Dar Ziryab has built its own tea house and cultural centre over more than twenty years.

Music is also served in the house

A musical selection accompanies a cultural vocation also expressed through concerts, workshops and instruments. Playback begins only when you choose.
